Logo policy

1. Use of the Global Compact Name and Logo
 

The Global Compact logo, displayed above, is generally reserved for the official use of the UN Global Compact only. However, the UN Global Compact may grant a limited right to use the logo to Participants and other Stakeholders in the context of their activities promoting the UN Global Compact and its goals, but not in any manner that suggests or implies that the UN Global Compact has endorsed or approved of the activities, products and/or services of the organization, or that the UN Global Compact is their source. In most circumstances, the UN Global Compact recommends that Participants use the “We Support the Global Compact” logo described below.

 

The permission of the UN Global Compact must be sought in advance and in writing prior to any use of the Global Compact logo. Participants are requested to provide a sample of the document via the online logo request system and indicate where on the sample the logo would appear.

 

Please note that the following uses will not be permitted:

  • Any use of the logo as a component of an organization's own logo, trademark or other branding elements;
  • Any use of the logo for the promotion or advertising of products, services and other activities intended to solicit business;
  • Any use of the logo as a permanent graphical element of stationery, business cards, or other variably utilized print materials;
  • Any use of the logo on social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Any use of the logo suggesting or implying a certification or seal of approval for activities, services and/or products.

 

2. Use of the “We Support the Global Compact” Logo

 

Participants in the UN Global Compact are encouraged to widely advocate and express their support for the UN Global Compact and its principles. For such activities, the UN Global Compact may authorize Participants to use the “We Support the Global Compact” (“Endorser”) logo above. To request permission to use the Endorser logo, an organization must:

  1. Be a Participant of the UN Global Compact;
  2. Have active COP or COE status;
  3. The meaning of the Endorser logo for a business Participant encompasses the financial support of the UN Global Compact. In addition to items (1) and (2) above, business Participants are required to demonstrate support for the UN Global Compact by ensuring their applicable annual contribution to the Foundation for the Global Compact (“Foundation”) is up to date. Permission to use the Endorser logo must be sought in advance and in writing from the UN Global Compact. Participants are requested to provide a sample of the document via the online logo request system and indicate where on the sample the logo would appear.

 

Please note that the following conditions apply for the use of the Endorser logo:

  • The logo must be placed in such a manner that it is clear from the context to which organization the "We" refers.
  • The logo may not be sub-licensed to any other entity without the prior written consent of the UN Global Compact.
  • The logo is not to be used in any manner that suggests or implies that the UN Global Compact has endorsed or approved of the activities, products, and/or services of the organization, or that the UN Global Compact is the source of any such activities, products or services.
  • Permission to use the Endorser logo lapses if the participant is removed from the list of participants of the UN Global Compact (delisted) or does not continue to make their annual contribution to the Foundation.
  • Participants and Stakeholders that have been authorized to use the Endorser logo on their website are strongly encouraged to link the logo to the UN Global Compact homepage at www.unglobalcompact.org

 

In accordance with this policy, the following uses of the Endorser logo will generally be permitted:

  • In training and/or other educational materials related to the UN Global Compact;
  • In documents and/or other materials designed to promote the principles of the UN Global Compact;
  • In statements outlining a participant’s UN Global Compact-related activities;
  • In the context of a Participant’s Communication on Progress (see also COP logo below);
  • In the context of promoting or advertising products and services of a participant, provided that the logo is not used as a designation of origin.

 

Please note that the following uses will not be permitted:

  • Any use of the logo in connection with fundraising;
  • Any use of the logo suggesting or implying that the UN Global Compact approves or endorses the activities, products and/or services of the organization;
  • Any use of the logo as an indicia of origin of products and/or services;
  • Any use of the logo as a component of an organization's own logo, trademark or other branding elements;
  • Any use of the logo as a permanent graphical element of stationery, business cards, or other variably utilized print materials;
  • Any use of the logo on social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Any use of the logo suggesting or implying a certification or seal of approval for activities, services and/or products.
